In everyday life, there are moments when we suddenly feel a sense of discomfort or find ourselves caught in negative thoughts. At such times, reciting Norito (Shinto prayers) is a simple yet powerful way to realign your energy and purify both your mind and your surroundings.
Since ancient times, Norito has been believed to “purify the space and harmonize the mind and body.”
When recited, many people experience:
・A lightness spreading through the body
・A sense of unnecessary energy being released
・A quieting of the mind and emotional clarity
The vibration of the words resonates within us, helping to restore the natural flow of energy.
Every morning, I begin my day by reciting the Amatsu Norito (Misogi Harai Norito). It begins with “Takamagahara ni kamu zumarimasu…” and is known for its strong cleansing and harmonizing qualities.
Reciting it in the quiet of the morning helps align my energy for the day and naturally brings a sense of positivity and clarity.
There are times when emotions become unsettled or a subtle sense of unease arises. Norito is also very helpful in these moments.
・Recite it aloud
・Or gently repeat it in your mind
Either way is perfectly fine. Even a brief moment of recitation can shift your energy, helping unnecessary thoughts and emotions flow away.
Another practice I often turn to is the Heart Sutra. This Buddhist scripture condenses profound teachings into a short, powerful text that supports inner stillness, purification, and release.
The mantra recited at the end of the Heart Sutra is especially known for:
・Calming emotional turbulence
・Helping stagnant or heavy energy flow out
・Creating a sense of spaciousness and clarity
Although Shinto and Buddhism are different traditions, both use the vibration of sacred words to harmonize the mind. I feel they complement each other beautifully.
Norito and the Heart Sutra require no special tools or preparation. You can recite them anytime, anywhere, at your own pace.
・As part of your morning routine
・When your emotions feel unsettled
・When you want to cleanse the atmosphere
・Before beginning important work
Even a few seconds can bring a sense of clarity and purification to your mind and space.
Norito and the Heart Sutra are not complicated rituals. They are simple, accessible ways to realign your energy in daily life.
By making them part of your everyday routine, your mind becomes lighter, intuition sharpens, and life begins to flow more smoothly.
I hope you welcome these practices into your daily life. May calm, clear energy gently fill your space.
